How It Works

About two hours, zero pressure.

  1. 1

    Walk In

Your seat is set and the supplies are out. Say hi to your table.

  2. 2

    Meet the Craft

A quick intro to the technique and where it comes from.

  3. 3

    Get Messy

Rip, tuck, paint, bead. Guidance is right there when you want it.

  4. 4

    Make It Yours

There’s no wrong way. We embrace wabi-sabi: there’s beauty in the imperfection.

  5. 5

    Take It Home

You leave with a finished piece, new friends, and a little more room in your head.

Meet Your Host

Nura Williams laughing in a green-and-white print outfit

Nura Williams

I spent nearly 20 years in business development and marketing, nonprofit service and politics, running myself ragged the whole time. At 40, I walked away into a restorative sabbatical that took me from Atlanta to Istanbul, Cape Town to Lisbon, Marrakech to the remote jungles of Pacific Colombia and back to Cape Town. Somewhere along the way I started dreaming again and making things with my hands again. Art of all kinds brought me back to who I was before the mask wore me down.

Shift Happens on Peters Street is the room where it all gets to play. I’m a creative, a writer and a certified yoga teacher, and my favorite thing is watching someone who swears they “aren’t creative” walk out holding something they made.

Come as you are. Leave a little lighter.
Our Story

Built by Makers. Powered by Community.

Shift Happens on Peters Street started as a radical idea. What would it look like to flip all this SHIFT on its head? The exhaustion. The disconnection. The burnout. Atlanta’s makers deserve a room of their own, and Castleberry Hill is the place to build it. So we did.

It’s a studio where strangers become friends over a workshop table. It’s a shop stocked with goods from local and independent brands, without the barriers that keep local makers out of real retail. And it’s a home base for the creatives who make Peters Street what it is. Every seat and every sale goes back into the people who made it possible.

Bring Your Team to the Table

Looking for a way for your team to connect that isn’t another happy hour or trust fall? A social creative workshop is hands-on, low-pressure, and genuinely fun. It gets everyone off their screens and around the same table, hands busy and guards down, which is exactly when real conversation starts.

I spent two decades operating inside the world’s largest law firms, so I know what actually lands with a room full of busy professionals. I bring the supplies, the facilitation and everything your group needs. You bring the people. Book the whole studio on Peters Street, or ask about bringing a workshop to your office.

Popular for: team offsites, client entertainment, holiday parties, employee appreciation, board retreats, birthdays, bridal showers and girls’ night.

Serving companies and groups across Atlanta and the greater metro area.

Good Questions

Do I need any art experience?

None. Every workshop is built for first-timers. The techniques are forgiving on purpose, and imperfection is part of the point.

What do I need to bring?

Just yourself. All supplies are included. Two exceptions: for Let’s Get (Rhine) Stoned! you can bring a jacket, bag, hat, mug or pair of shoes to transform, and for Seen / Unseen bring a photo of you in your happy place on your phone.

How long is a workshop?

Most workshops run about 1½ to 2 hours. You’ll see the exact time for each date when you book. Creative Power Hour is a drop-in on Wednesdays, 12–2 PM.

Can I come alone?

Yes, and plenty of people do. These are social workshops: you’ll share a table with other makers, and the craft does the icebreaking.

Where is the studio?

253-A Peters Street in Castleberry Hill, Atlanta. We’re open Wednesday through Saturday.

Do you host private and corporate events?

Yes. Team offsites, client events, holiday parties, birthdays, showers and more. Email with your date and group size.

What’s the up-cycled item fee?

For Let’s Get (Rhine) Stoned!, the $50 covers the workshop. If you’d rather grab an up-cycled piece from our rack instead of bringing your own, item fees vary.

Can I give a workshop as a gift?

Yes. Email with the workshop and date and we’ll set it up.

Save Your Seat. Make a Mess.
